Residency Licensure

The Appalachian State University Career and Technical Education Program offers the new alternative licensure pathway called Residency Licensure. This route allows qualified individuals to obtain a teaching position and begin teaching immediately as a resident while obtaining a clear professional educator's license.  Residency licenses are for one-year and can be renewed for up to a 3-year licensure cycle. Residency licensure is issued on a provisional basis in the area of your indiviudal qualifications. You must be hired by a school district under the residency program to begin the residency licensure pathway. State forms and additional information can be found on the NC Dept. of Public Instruction Residency Licensure website.
