Hi! I just wanted to take a moment and welcome all of you back to school or to Appalachian State University.
I just wanted to let you know about a few things that are going on in our program right now.
- All of our graduates have jobs. Good jobs in great counties. I think that is a definite plus . There are numerous job openings right now in technology education. We currently do not have enough graduates to fill all of the job openings.
- Appalachian State University is one of two institutions in the state and one of three in southeast region that prepares technology education teachers. You will be in high demand upon graduation, know that!
- Our student organization, ASU TECA, is actively involved in regional and national conferences. We are proud to have the International TECA President-Elect in our program. ASU TECA will be meeting in the next few weeks. I encourage each of you to get involved in this organization
- I would also like to encourage you to get involved in ITEEA, our international professional organization. Right now they are offering a discounted rate to first-time student members of $25.00. - We will be going several places this year. I hope that each of you decide to attend these activities. Below is a list of the activities that you are encouraged to be involved in as a technology education major.

- NC Western Region TSA Conference - Appalachian State University – February 24,2012
- ITEEA's 74th Annual Conference – Long Beach, CA – March 15-17, 2012
- NC TSA State Conference – Greensboro, NC – early April
